Gastric and intestinal infection marked by – diarrhea( frequent loose stools) , abdominal pain/ cramps, nausea, vomiting and fever.
Typically spread by contact with an infected person or through contaminated food, water and surfaces.

Diagnosis based on symptoms and stool/ blood examination. Treatment mainly consists of fluid and electrolyte replacement ( oral rehydration therapy / intravenous fluids in severe cases) and medications ( antibiotics/ antisecretory agents/ antispasmodics / pre- probiotics).
