Gastritis is an inflammation, irritation or erosion of the lining of the stomach. It can occur suddenly ( acute) or gradually ( chronic) . May be caused by Helicobacter pylori ( H. Pylori) , bile reflux and other bacterial / viral infections.

Symptoms may include – nausea, abdominal bloating, indigestion, burning in stomach, loss of apettite.

Diagnosed on the basis of – history, physical evaluation, blood tests and Upper GI Endoscopy ( biopsy/ RUT kit).

Lifestyle and dietary modifications play an important role in the management along with antibiotics and antacids.
